Stress is often referred to as the 21st century sickness. We all know this feeling of anxiety, sometimes a sense of anguish, which occurs especially at the workplace. Unfortunately, many workers try to ignore the problem until they are totally overwhelmed. Are there methods to overcome it efficiently? Here are some complementary techniques to get rid of work-related stress.

Identify the Causes of your Workplace Stress

To be able to stop stress at its source, you first have to know that very source. Rather than developing a random stress relief strategy, you can try to reduce it or even to eradicate it by determining the real causes. The following factors are the most common causes of workplace stress so, it is up to define which of these you have been through lately.

It can be overwork, harsh time management, a high level of occupational requirement, the pressure of your organizational hierarchy, a poorly defined mission, a lack of visibility and uncertainties about the future, a change of organization or even repeated changes,  conflict or strained interpersonal relationships, an imbalance between professional life and personal life, or a lack of recognition.

Stay Positive

Stress often comes from psychological factors and you can fight it on its own ground for better effects. For this purpose, start by adopting the right state of mind and remain positive all the way! It is recommended to always see the good side of things because there is always one. Make the effort to look at the stressor in a favorable light and keep the positive attitude at all times. Do some breathing exercises to chase away negative thoughts more easily. You can learn how to do so on this page.

Do Only One Task at a Time

Another golden rule to follow in order to prevent or relieve stress at your work place is to avoid multitasking at all costs. Nowadays, there are so many things that can get you distracted because of Internet. That makes it difficult to stay focused on the main task at hand. The risk is to constantly postpone and end up without anything done. At the end of the day, our advance fades and we quickly find ourselves in an emergency situation. Organize yourself to limit these risks: disable notifications, check your emails and social media at a fixed time, put your phone on messaging, etc. Therefore, you will avoid stress and will become more productive at the same time.
